The circuits need to be complete and continuous so that the current may flow perfectly. Wire connectors, fuses, switches and conductors require good continuity. Good fuses and closed switches have fair continuity whereas the blown fuses and open switches tend to have no continuity whatsoever. You can conduct a basic continuity test to verify that the test leads are perfect before using the digital multimeters. The continuity test on the digital multimeters is pretty simple all you need to do is to set the dial to a continuity function and plug in the lead after ensuring that the power is turned off. Now try to make a contact with the component under test by using leads. The digital multimeter tends to beep if good continuity exists.

How To Measure Capacitance Using A Digital Multimeter:

If you want to test capacitance first set the dial on the digital multimeter to the capacitance function and plugin the leads. Connect the test leads to the capacitor terminals after making sure that the capacitor has been discharged and then take a reading. Now if the measurement reading is somewhat similar to the rating that is listed on the capacitor then the capacitor is considered to be good.
